Tucson Church Opens ‘Switch’ Youth Center
The New Life Church of God (NLCOG) in Tucson, Arizona inaugurated its youth center, “Switch” on Friday, February 17, 2012.
“The youth center is a dream come true for the youth community within our congregation,” said Dr. Luis O. Rodriguez, senior pastor.
NLCOG previously established a community resource center onsite that provides a myriad of programs including housing assistance, a clothing and food bank and a youth mentoring program. However, the need of establishing a youth center became more evident and church volunteers donated their time to remodel one of the existing buildings to create what is now the Switch Youth Center.
“The reason behind the youth center’s name, Switch, is to remind the youth that it is time to make a change and move according to God’s will towards His purposes for this generation,” Rodriguez continued. The youth center was designed with a technologically appropriate auditorium that accommodates 200, and includes offices for the youth ministry plus a fully equipped café with a kitchen and dining area. The contemporary and modern decor of the center was designed to represent the style of the new generation and accommodate its different youth programs.
“Switch is no longer just a dream for our youth but now a reality that the Lord has granted us, ” stated Alvaro Serrato, New Life’s youth pastor. “We anticipate great blessings for the New Life youth through the moving of the Holy Spirit in this new generation. It’s time for Switch!”
