Toll-Free Prayer Line to be Offered During GA2012
During the upcoming Church of God General Assembly, or GA2012, for the first time ever, Church of God members across the nation will be able to call a toll-free number and have someone in the prayer room pray for a need during the General Assembly. In addition, teams of intercessors led by State Prayer Leaders will be available to offer personal prayer for anyone stopping at the Prayer Room, located in the Orange County Convention Center for the duration of the Assembly.
According to Doug Small, liaison for Church of God Prayer Ministries, calls will be taken, Tuesday through Friday, from 9am to 9pm. In addition, a special email has been set up for the General Assembly Prayer Room and prayer requests will be collected, printed and distributed to intercessions during the daily 12-hour simultaneous prayer effort.
As in the past, the Prayer Room will open for a 7am prayer service daily – and then all day for personal and intercessory prayer. At 9am, teams of intercessors will provide simultaneous intercession throughout the day for both the business sessions and the worship events each evening. The business sessions and the worship events will be live-streamed in the prayer room.
“In addition to fielding prayer requests, intercessors will pray around the world,” Small stated. “In the course of the Assembly, every nation on the earth will be prayed for, as will every state of the U.S. In addition, superintendents, national and state overseers will be the subject of prayer. The prayer will not only be ‘crisis praying’ but ‘strategic praying’ as well. In addition, ‘Prayer Kiosk’ will be located at various places with prayer volunteers to ‘give the gift of prayer’ to anyone with a special need.”
“The General Assembly crowds are so large, that they can depersonalize us,” Small continued. “Personal needs get lost. There is rarely space for the things that cause us all to ache individually. So, we have created these prayer ministries – and they are just that. But they are also demonstrations of what our churches can provide for their own communities.”
Prayer Ministries is conducting a special day of training on Monday, July 23. Small says it is the official kick-off of, “The Praying Church Movement!” Special guests include Family Research Council’s Pierre Bynum, Esther Ilnisky (Global Children’s Prayer Leader), Beverly Pegues (the 10/40 Window), and Pastor Niko Njotorahardjo of Indonesia. Registration is on-line at www.praycog.org or by calling 704-938-9111. The prayer request line is 855-514-HOPE (4673). Prayer requests may be submitted to: [email protected].
