Pre-Events Being Held Prior to GA2012

Several groups are staging events prior to the Church of God International General Assembly, scheduled for next week July 24-27 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

The Assembly, also referred to as GA2012, happens every two years and is a perfect venue to bring together groups that are usually scattered worldwide doing ministry during the year. A good example are military and institutional chaplains. The Chaplains Commission will have meetings with their directors and endorsers, as well as offer peer reviews all day on Monday, the day before the start of GA2012.

The Division of Education will be hosting the International Educators Luncheon where they will announce the Distinguished Educator Awards. Two awards are given every two years, including a leadership recognition and an award to honor a teaching faculty member.

Church of God World Missions will be hosting events Sunday and Monday, capping off their gathering with a banquet where missionaries and leaders will be recognized. The event takes place at the Peabody Hotel, adjacent to the Convention Center.

On Monday afternoon an International and state ministerial training conference and consultation will be held in the Peabody. At the Hilton Hotel, the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home and Women’s Discipleship will hold a joint brunch where the two will present recognitions for the ministries in which the two partner regularly.

Finally, a critical element of the success of GA2012 is prayer. Also on Monday, July 23, an all-day prayer summit will take place in the convention center. The event is the kick-off event for the Praying Church Movement. Daily prayer will take place in the same location all day for the entire week, assuring that nominations, deliberations, elections, appointments, and decisions made during GA2012 are bathed in prayer.

Registration for GA2012 begins on Monday, July 23, at 9:00 a.m. in the South Concourse of the Orange County Convention Center.
