Operation Compassion Expands Outreach to Storm Victims
Operation Compassion is expanding disaster relief efforts while maintaining and re-supplying those already established. Throughout the disaster relief process, Operation Compassion is always looking for better ways to help more victims. Utilizing their strategic partnerships, Operation Compassion is expanding their scope of recovery efforts into new areas of destruction.
With 30 semi-trucks and 4 box trucks delivered and in route, Operation Compassion has 1,044,000 pounds of disaster relief goods, products and supplies being distributed and an additional 10 semi-trucks and box trucks (more than 256,000 pounds) staged and ready for re-supply. Operation Compassion has more than 1.3 million pounds of critical relief goods and products available. Included in these products are adult and baby diapers, Clorox cleaning supplies, shoes for men, women and children, assorted paper products, outwear, clothing, blankets, bottled water, toothpaste, detergent, fabric softener, folding cots, lanterns and coolers.
Steve Wallace and Darrin Jarvis from Refuel Ministries has set up a mobile kitchen able to feed thousands of hot meals each day in Lindenhurst, NY. Also, trained Chaplains will be stationed in Lindenhurst, NY and at other disaster sites to help deal with the psychological aspects of the storm’s aftermath. Many forget about the emotional and psychological pain of a disaster.
K.I.D.S. and Chris Blake, a strategic partner from New York City, has delivered a semi-truck of much needed blankets. With the weather getting cooler in the northeast, blankets will be in short supply. Two additional semi-trucks of clothes are also on the way and K.I.D.S. will be sending some specialty items just for children to help them cope as well.
In addition, Operation Compassion is supplying goods to cooking units and shelters housing those homeless from the storm, volunteers for construction and debris clean-up and removal and countless workers are doing their best to help the survivors cope.
Up and down the eastern seaboard, Operation Compassion has established and is resourcing disaster relief sites able to assist anyone surviving Superstorm Sandy. Eastern North Carolina, Eastern Shore of Maryland, the Tidewater, VA area, Lindenhurst N.J., Hope NYC, Brooklyn Tab/Legacy Center, NJ/NY Hispanic and NJ Church of God and the Appalachia Dream Center has sites delivering products, goods and supplies. In all, Operation Compassion has established 19 sites in 6 states reaching the survivors of this catastrophic storm.
