In Its 25th Year, The Cove Preparing for Packed 2013 Schedule
The first seminars on The Cove property took place 25 years ago in what is now the Chatlos Memorial Chapel. This year, as The Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove celebrates its anniversary, several new programs are being offered alongside its regular schedule of events.
“We had such a blessed year of ministry in 2012. We saw God work in awesome ways as thousands came to study from His Word, receive rest and renewal, and return to their ministries and lives ready to make an impact for Him, said Will Graham, vice president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and executive director of The Cove. “This year, as we celebrate 25 years, we’re praying for an even more exciting year!”
More Concerts
Some of the most popular events at The Cove are concerts with leading Christian music artists. The schedule this year includes additional “Evening at the Cove” concerts, as well as added Christmas at the Cove events. The tickets for most of these events are $50 and include a gourmet buffet-style meal. This year, concerts are planned with Jason Crabb, Matthew West, Phil Wickham, Natalie Grant, Phillips, Craig and Dean; and more.
The first concert of the year is a special Valentine’s Day event with Brandon Heath.
Five No-Fee Seminars
Another new opportunity this year will be select no-fee seminars. Herb Reavis will lead a seminar next month titled “The Power and Possibilities of Genuine Revival,” Sinclair Ferguson, a seminar in March titled “Four Hours with the Master,” Jim Henry, a seminar in May titled “Sermons in Stone,” and in August, Neil Anderson, a seminar titled, Rough Road to Freedom, and Pedro Garcia, a seminar titled, “Tension: How God can use Stress to Save Your Life.” These events include a free seminar, with the payment for on-site accommodations and meals.
Intensive Bible Training
The Cove is partnering with Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) to hold an Intensive Bible Training event titled “The BIG Picture: Grasping the Master’s Plan from Genesis to Revelation.” Mark Yarborough, vice president for Academic Affairs, academic dean and assistant professor at the seminary, will lead this in-depth five-day seminar (June 24-28). Participants will gain extensive biblical insight and practical knowledge as they study alongside seminary students.
This seminar is open to everyone and is also available for seminary credit (graduate level) and CEU credit (for teacher certification) through DTS. Financial assistance is offered to currently enrolled DTS students who desire to attend.
“This is the first of, hopefully, a long list of schools that will participate in this option in the future,” said Graham.
Multi-year Will Graham Seminar
Will Graham will begin a multi-year seminar, for the first time holding an ongoing, intensive study through one book of the Bible. The study, held Oct. 7-9 and titled “Second-Guessing God’s Plan,” will focus on 1 Samuel. “I must admit that I love the book of 1st Samuel,” said Graham “There are so many life-changing lessons in that book, and I love to preach and teach out of it.”
Guided Personal Spiritual Retreats
Typically self-directed, Personal Spiritual Retreats are opportunities for an individual or a couple to experience a private spiritual retreat to refocus on growing their relationship with God. This year, participants will have the option of having a “guided” experience, which includes an orientation, devotional time and small group reflection, collective prayer and more.
Seminars and Other Events
In addition to these new opportunities, The Cove will continue to offer seminars from well-known Bible teachers like Jack Hayford, James Dobson, Pedro Garcia, Jim Cymbala, Chip Ingram and more; two military marriage seminars; events for women, seniors and more.
