Ministerial Internship Program will Honor 35 Years
The weekend of May 17-18, 2013, the Church of God Division of Education will commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Ministerial Internship Program (MIP) with a celebratory commissioning of this year’s candidates and a look back at the success and leadership of the educational program which began in 1978.
On Friday night, May 17, Connecting the Church with Culture will be the theme. Eliezer Bonilla and Kevin Wallace will describe how their churches have successfully connected the gospel with their cities.
Bonilla is pastor of Abundant Life, a multisite church in the northern and southern parts of San Antonio.
Wallace is pastor of the Redemption Point Church, located in the suburbs of Chattanooga, which has become a multisite church with a campus in the inner city of Chattanooga.
In addition, Jerald Daffe and Tom Doolittle, two professors at Lee University who have studied missional churches, will describe needs for connecting the church with the culture. These speakers will address, 1) What are the needs of the American culture? 2) How can the church meet these needs? And 3) How can the church create a community of believers that connects with American culture?
Hundreds of candidates who have completed the program will attend the weekend of services to be held in Cleveland, Tennessee. Registration will be held at the International Offices of the Church of God. Everyone is invited to attend the Friday night symposium on May 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the North Cleveland Church of God.
