South Carolina Church Pledges $500K to Philippine Orphanage
Praise Cathedral Church of God in Greer, SC, pastored by Jerry and Jan Madden, has been a leading supporter of mission projects for many years. At the 2012 General Assembly, Praise Cathedral was recognized as the 2nd largest church donor at the bi-annual World Missions banquet.
Recently, Praise Cathedral decided to “ stretch its missions giving” by awarding a three (3) year matching grant, in the amount of half a million dollars ($500,000), to Samaritan’s Place (SP) in the Philippines. A premier orphanage and international adoption program, “ SP has shown excellence in services to children and families, as well as being good stewards of financial resources,” according to Praise Missions Pastor Mark Hill.
“ We’re proud of the high quality care for orphans that Samaritan’s Place (SP) provides and the community impact this ministry is making,” Hill stresses. “ It is good soil, good fruit…a real win, win missions relationship.”
Debt free and operating in the black each year, Samaritan’s Place (SP) will utilize Praise Cathedral’s matching grant, simply called SP3, as part of a long-term sustainability plan. The majority of funds will be added to SP’s endowment fund, while portions will be used for property expansion for micro-farming, improved maintenance and infant care facilities. Included in the SP3 grant is $ 125K designated toward an on-going construction project of SP’s home church, Church of God Dasmarinas. The local church of Church of God Dasma is working to match its portion.
