Youth and Discipleship Holds Training Conference

November 15, 2013–Church of God state and regional youth directors are gathered at the International Offices in Cleveland, Tennessee for a training conference.

The three-day session began last night with an address by Secretary General and Youth and Discipleship liaison M. Thomas Propes. The event concludes on Saturday morning, November 16, with an address from General Overseer Mark Williams who will speak on “Reaching the Next Generation.”

One of the primary target audiences for the conference is state and regional leaders who have recently been appointed to their positions. International Director of Youth and Discipleship Gary Lewis, along with veteran youth leaders will be addressing core aspects and programming of successful Church of God youth programs, including youth camp, girls ministries, Winterfest, Royal Rangers and LEAD Institute.

Coordinator of Children’s Ministries Tony Lane led a session on vital relationships, such as with the administrative bishop, youth boards, pastors and families.

On behalf of World Missions, General Director Tim Hill addressed the delegates on Friday morning on the topic, “Youth and Discipleship Reaches Around the World.”

On Friday evening, Assistant Y&D Director David Blair will facilitate a YWEA Awards and Youth Missions Emphasis general session which will include such topics as YWEA strategy and focus and the announcement of the official launch of the YWEA 2014 project, “Igniting the Firewall” in Africa. The initiative is a partnership with Men and Women of Action and World Missions.
