International Center for Spiritual Renewal Expands Ministry Scope

Cleveland, TN—The International Center for Spiritual Renewal is expanding its ministry scope. To strengthen their kingdom-based focus of spiritual renewal for the individual, the church, and the world, the Center’s board has selected three Spiritual Renewal Advisers to serve alongside their newly appointed Executive Director, Kay Horner.

Based on the biblical principle of Proverbs 11:14—”many advisers make victory sure”—the Center’s vision for these Spiritual Renewal Advisers includes providing discernment and oversight of strategic ways the ministry may more effectively serve and support various global initiatives. The Advisers will be instrumental in pursuing the Center’s foundational goals of Restoring Spiritual Integrity, Pursuing Scriptural Unity, and Demonstrating Social Responsibility.

Spiritual Renewal Advisers (L-R) Jeff Farmer, Kay Horner, David Ferguson, Tom Phillips.

Currently Co-Chair of the Center’s Awakening America Alliance, Dr. David Ferguson will serve as Adviser of Spiritual Renewal and Kingdom Networks. David has served on various national and international initiatives and boards, including the Empowered 21 Global and U.S. Cabinets, NextGen Imperative, the Garden Tomb Council in Jerusalem/London, The Marriage CoMission U.S. Steering Committee, The Fatherhood CoMission, and the Relational Values Alliance. David and his wife, Teresa, are co-founders of the Center for Relational Leadership and have conducted training and coaching events for leaders from more than 50 countries. As convener for the Advisers and representative to the Center’s Board of Directors, Dr. Ferguson shares, “I am excited about the opportunity of engaging a broader network of denominations and para-church ministries in a pursuit of Great Commission Living empowered by Great Commandment Love through the Center’s ministry initiatives.”

Serving as Adviser of Spiritual Renewal and Compassion, Dr. Jeff Farmer, is also the current Chairman of the Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North America (an association representing more than 40,000 churches in the USA, Canada, and Mexico). Former President of Open Bible Churches for 16 years, Jeff has extensive governing board experience, including Vice-Chairman of the National Association of Evangelicals, and member of the Board of Directors of the Mission America Coalition, Christian Churches Together, the Sentinel Group, and Elim Bible Institute. Dr. Farmer believes, “Our nation and the nations of the world stand in need of a great deliverance and salvation. Victory will come as Spirit-empowered advisers draw closer to the Lord and bring a living word of counsel from the throne room of heaven.”

A key component of the Center’s new ministry scope will be evangelizing the next generation, and Dr. Tom Phillips has been selected as Adviser of Spiritual Renewal and Evangelism. Having served as Vice President of Crusades, Executive Director of the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove and Senior Crusade Director with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Tom is well qualified for this advisory role. As Crusade Director, he directed counseling and follow-up in the United States, Canada, Australia, England, Mexico, Brazil and the Far East. Along with developing BGEA materials and programs, Dr. Phillips has authored several books on revival, including Revival Signs, Ignite Your Passion for God, and The Laws of Revival (Editor). Currently Vice President of the Billy Graham Library, he feels, “The International Center for Spiritual Renewal’s ministry pursuit of a Christ awakening and revival in America and around the globe is vital to overcoming the forces of spiritual darkness. This has been Billy Graham’s heart these many years and is certainly Franklin Graham’s as well. As we faithfully proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, let us pray for a renewed spiritual awakening among His people.”

Having served as Administrator for Voice of Salvation Ministries and World Impact TV, the Center’s Ministry Projects Coordinator, Cry Out America National Coordinator, and Interim Executive Director for the Center, Rev. Kay Horner is a natural choice for the Board’s appointment as International Center for Spiritual Renewal Executive Director with the Spiritual Renewal Advisers.

“I am both honored and humbled to serve with such distinguished leaders in this kingdom-focused ministry for spiritual renewal—in both vertical and horizontal dimensions,” Kay shared. “We envision tremendous opportunities on the horizon as the Center serves as a catalyst for scriptural unity and ministry engagement through our various initiatives such as the Awakening America Alliance, Cry Out America grassroots prayer movement, Preach2Engage upstream strategies, and The HELP ministry to pastor’s wives.”

Sterling Brackett, Board Chair for the Center commented: “I am excited that Kay Horner will be serving as Executive Director for the Center along with these distinguished Spiritual Renewal Advisers. Kay is a woman of prayer and an excellent administrator. She has done a wonderful job in leading the Cry Out America efforts across the nation and has served with the Center in numerous initiatives over the years. The diverse skill sets and heart for renewal that each of these leaders possess will be a huge blessing.”
