Executive Council Releases General Assembly Agenda
June 17, 2014–After months of research, debate, consideration, and editing, the Church of God International Executive Committee has released the International General Council Agenda. The 92-page document was posted on the Church of God website today and will be considered at the 75th International General Assembly (GA2014) on July 29-August 1, 2014.
In addition to being placed as a downloadable document on the website, it has also been sent via email to each Ordained Bishop in the Church of God who has an email address on file at the International Offices. Also, delegates who have already registered for GA2014 and have provided an email address will receive the electronic version within the next few days.
“This is an important document which is taken very seriously,” stated David Ray, chairman of the General Assembly cabinet. “Since the International Executive Council adjourned a few weeks ago, there have been dozens of people proofing, editing, and formatting the agenda to be able to place it before the group of ministers who will be considering these 59 items. This document represents months of preparation which began with ministers and laypersons contacting the Executive Council about items to be considered.”
In addition to the electronic release of the agenda today, it will be printed and mailed to ordained bishops within the next ten days. At GA2014, registered delegates will receive a special copy of the General Assembly TODAY which will contain a condensed, but complete version of the Agenda to follow along as the General Council debates the issues. Registered ordained bishops will receive manuals which will contain the agenda.
A new feature of the General Assembly this year will be the availability of a GA2014 “app” for download on smartphones and tablets. The app will contain an electronic version of the agenda, as well as schedules, maps, and a list of ministerial file numbers.
