Middle East Seminary Equips Students to Spread the Gospel

Recently, Church of God General Overseer Mark Williams visited a missionary project in an undisclosed Middle Eastern country. There are few nations in the region open to the Gospel, and although this nation is one that is less hostile, the law has harsh penalties for converting Muslims to another faith. While visiting, Dr. Williams spoke at an assembly of the churches in the desert country.

The missionaries (whose names are withheld for security reasons) partner with a seminary in that country. Before their return to the U.S. for fundraising, the missionary family visited the seminary to attend its graduation ceremony where more than 30 men and women graduated, equipped to spread the gospel! Biblical education and ministerial training are dire needs in the Middle East, and absolute requirements for the Gospel to succeed in the most hostile region to the Christian faith.

If history proves anything, it is that the Gospel cannot be contained or stopped. Christians faced death in the Coliseum under Nero and Caligula, missionaries risked disease and violence to carry the Good News to the heart of Africa and the Amazon basin, and champions of the faith risked their lives to smuggle Bibles into China and Russia. If the rest of the world is no obstacle to those determined to spread the message of God’s love, then neither are the threats of the region that birthed our Savior.
