Houston to Host National Summit on the Gospel
Leaders from across the country will come together in Houston, April 27-29, for a National Summit on the Gospel, convened by the Mission America Coalition/U.S. Lausanne Committee (MAC) to address gospel movements, compassion and justice, collaboration within the Church, and the centrality of the gospel in ministry.
John Bisagno (Houston’s First Baptist Church) will bring a greeting to welcome the National Summit to Houston and provide an opening prayer.
The event boasts a strong line-up of presenters. Gary Frost (North American Mission Board), Ed Stetzer (Lifeway Research), and Paul Cedar (MAC) will discuss the state of the gospel in America and the dynamics that create and sustain gospel movements.
Tuesday night will be a “Celebration of the Gospel” with the band SoulFruit and a message from Mark Slaughter (InterVarsity and MAC). Music and worship throughout the Summit will be lead by Yale Kim.
Participants will choose from four workshops addressing the most current and critical trends the Church faces today in evangelism:
- Loving Neighbors – What does it take for any neighborhood ministry to be effective?
- Welcoming Strangers – The diaspora is in every neighborhood – how can churches and ministries reach out?
- Seeking Justice – How do we make sure the gospel is present in every justice ministry and activity?
- Working Together – How do we take advantage of the desire for unity to create authentic collaboration?
The Summit will be a clear reminder to “embed, incorporate, and make the gospel the DNA of every expression of ministry,” says MAC’s Phil Miglioratti. The organization’s LOVE2020 initiative – with the vision that every person in America be authentically loved by a committed follower of Jesus Christ by the end of the year 2020 – will also hold strategic planning meetings during the event.
All ministry, outreach, marketplace, cityreaching, and other gospel-driven leaders, students and lay-persons are welcome to attend. Pastors and marketplace and prayer leaders from Houston and cities across Texas are receiving personal invitations to participate.
Summit registration is $295, including an evening reception, two lunches and one dinner. Registrant’s spouse may attend for $195. One-day registration is $195. Hotel accommodations at the Sheraton North Houston are charged separately. (Call the hotel directly at (281) 442-5100 and ask for the Mission America Coalition room block).
