Beginning Friday, April 10, Lee University will host its annual Lee Day, 30 hours of excitement and information geared toward prospective students and their families.
“This is the best time ever to visit Lee, when the entire campus is on display!” said Danny Murray, Lee Day chairman.
The festivities will start at noon on Friday with Lee Day registration and the opportunity for prospective students to sit in on one of the many featured classes. Campus tours and academic displays will follow, allowing guests to meet faculty and students in the department of their interest.
Early class selection begins at 12:30 on Friday afternoon as a chance for incoming freshmen to choose their classes for fall of 2015. “Music in the Air,” an opportunity to hear the Lee ensembles perform, and “Major Discovery,” a time to talk to faculty and students about the various field of study options, will take place that afternoon. An info session will also be held to highlight summer events on campus.
The Block Party, beginning at 5 p.m., will feature great food and fun with current students. Guests will then have an opportunity to attend “Lee U Spotlight,” a program highlighting Lee music, award-winning videos, and alumni stories. “Secret Garden,” the musical by Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon will also take place that evening.
Saturday is focused around campus life, beginning with an opportunity for prospective athletes to “Meet the Coaches” and receive tryout information. There will also be a colorful display of student clubs and organizations, providing guests another glimpse of student life.
Parents will meet Lee President Dr. Paul Conn and the financial aid staff at “Parents Inside Track,” a Q & A session with lunch provided.
A luncheon will take place at noon for high school seniors, who will be given an opportunity to register for scholarship drawings. Eight scholarships will be drawn and awarded at 6 p.m.
New to the Lee Day program is an “Open Forum” which will take place Saturday at 1 p.m. with students and Admissions staff to ensure all questions are answered. “Life at Lee,” a lighthearted look at campus life, will then take place at 2:30 in the Conn Center.
Following “Life at Lee,” there will be a barbecue dinner in Alumni Park. Saturday’s activities conclude with a worship rally, led by President Conn, the Voices of Lee, and the Lee Chapel Worship Band.
