Israel Initiative: Love in Action
While seeking direction from the Lord in prayer, Church of God World Missions Director Tim Hill was impressed to begin a special emphasis on finishing the Great Commission in the land where Jesus lived and ministered. This birthed the Israel Initiative for Church of God World Missions. It will focus on ministry to all peoples of Israel, seeking to show the love of Christ without regard to culture or heritage of peoples in Israel.
Love is seen in the “doing.” Love is not relegated to profession only, but in the outward manifestation of deeds of interest and concern. The Israel Initiative will demonstrate the Love of God through Care.
Through an increase in benevolence outreach and community engagement, we believe a bridge of trust can be built that will be strong enough to stand the tests of culture and centuries of misunderstanding.
The Israel Initiative will be directed toward children. The Aboud Village Children’s Ministry is to refurbish the playground, which was damaged by a storm, at the Aboud School. Also, the children‘s abilities to learn will be upgraded through the addition of a computer learning center and costly audio/visual equipment.
Buildings and maintenance of properties demonstrate that an investment has been made in the land of Israel and for the people that live there. In Israel, there are many walls that separate and divide. The Israel Initiative seeks to provide safe havens and places where people can come together to learn and understand each other, and experience the Love of God.
Communication is the beginning and the continuation of relationship. The Israel Initiative will provide information and inspiration through a partnership with Daystar Television. Relationships will also be built and sustained through the provision of technical resources, bringing a unity of understanding.
A fifth way the Israel Initiative seeks to show God’s love will be in connecting and networking the world with Israel and its people. The Center for Israeli Ministry (CIM) will be located on the Mount of Olives, and provide shelter and knowledge for students from leading schools around the world who feel compelled to know more about Israel. Connections will also be made through hosted tours that show the places where Jesus walked, as well as provide an opportunity to connect with ongoing ministry.
Showing the people of Israel that God cares for them begins with you and me. It is not enough to agree on the importance of Israel, to talk about standing with her, and to offer opinions on what is happening there. Love is to be seen, it is to be acted upon, and it requires a commitment to participate.
Please show your love through involvement in the Israel Initiative through prayer, support of finances and influence, and through traveling the land where Jesus walked.
