The Most Complete Graphic Adaptation of the Bible Ever Done

A leading publisher of Christian graphic content, including the first graphic novels by best-selling evangelical authors Dr. Ravi Zacharias and eternity expert Randy Alcorn, today announces the release of a new Kingstone Comics app that places premium graphic content at the ready reach of consumers worldwide. The company’s signature product, the Kingstone Bible, is now beginning to release on Android and Apple devices across the planet. At 12 volumes, 9000 panels and approaching 2000 pages, this comic epic is the most complete graphic adaptation of the Bible ever done. Ayris feels marrying top artists from Marvel and DC with solid Biblical theology was a match made in Heaven.

Ayris, who is a pastor and also doubles as the publisher for Kingstone, has marveled at the international reach. “We began to see how transcultural comics were when mission agencies and Bible Societies all over the globe began approaching us saying, ‘You have something special here that has some great missional implications.'” The international growth for Kingstone has been prodigious, this month passing 300 languages that have access to the Kingstone graphic Bible. Besides the current English language app, the company is preparing to release 10 additional language apps the first quarter of 2016.

Central Florida based Kingstone tries to take its cues from Marvel and DC rather than the religious culture. “We tend to look at what Marvel and DC are doing in the comics market rather than existing Christian publishing companies, which makes us somewhat of a unique animal,” commented Kingstone CEO Art Ayris. “In fact, one of the prerequisites of working with us is a strong pedigree with either Marvel or DC.”

Ayris, who has been interviewed on FOX and other news outlets for commentary on the comics and culture has learned that comics are not only transcultural but also transgenerational. “Our demographics are all over the map. We aim for the 10-14 tween crowd, but we have parents of five-year-olds demanding more products stating their kids read the covers off of them. But our largest social media demographic continues to be males 18-35,” Ayris added.

Besides Zacharias and Alcorn, other Kingstone writers include Dr. Marvin Olasky, named one of the 50 Most Influential Christians in the World, comic book writer Ben Avery who adapted three volumes of Games of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin’s The Hedge Knight, former Marvel editor Roland Mann and Ayris himself. Some of Kingstone’s artists and illustrators include Javier Saltares, Danny Bulanadi, Kyle Hotz, Sergio Cariello, Jeff Slemons, Jason Moore, Fabricio Guerra, Chris Ivy, Zach Matheny, Emily Kanalz, Mark McNabb and Ben Prenevost.

Though Kingstone Comics distributes through major general market retailers as well as Christian book chains, it pushes much of its evangelical eye candy via digital channels. Kingstone is the only Christian publisher on ComiXology, the largest comic app in the world, with over 250 million downloads. Kingstone also drives its brand of faith comics across Kindle, iTunes, Scribd, CBD, Google, Hoopla, Nook, Vyrso, Kobo, Overdrive and other digital sites.
