Sunday, October 25: Honoring Retired Ministers and Widows

On October 25, 2015, every Church of God congregation is asked to designate a special love offering exclusively for aged ministers and widows.

Church of God General Overseer Mark Williams is asking pastors across the nation to give high priority to the offering this year, and every year. One-fourth of the offering will be used to help fund financial assistance to aged ministers with emergency needs. The remainder will be given as a special love gift from the church to retired ministers and widows at Christmas.

“In 1992 the Church of God General Assembly declared one Sunday a year to focus on honoring those who have gone before us, blazing the trails of ministry through evangelism, pastoring and church planting,” Williams stated. “These saints of God are worthy of recognition and support and this day, designated as ‘Reformation Sunday’ is the venue in which to do it.”

Williams went on to say that a special video presentation is being prepared and will be available for download to show in local churches prior to October 25. It will be located on the Church of God Web site, www.churchofgod.org.

Donations and offerings for retired ministers and widows should be mailed directly to Church of God International Offices, Reformation Sunday Offering, P.O. Box 2430, Cleveland, TN 37320.
