2015 Dreyfus Courageous Christian Leadership Award Announced
Frontline Ministries, Inc., and the Exodus Mandate Project announced today the selection of Edward Gamble as the recipient of the 2015 Dr. Robert Dreyfus Courageous Christian Leadership Award.
Established by Frontline Ministries, Inc., in 2007, this award is presented annually to honor and recognize Christian leaders who have exhibited moral courage through their unique contribution to the Church by advancing Christianity in the culture and life of the nation. This contribution may run counter to the prevailing culture of the Church and society.
Since 2003, Edward Gamble has served as the Executive Director of the Southern Baptist Association of Christian Schools (www.SBACS.org), the national organization representing the interests of over 750 Christian schools and their sponsoring churches. A calling that spans five decades, he has served as teacher and headmaster in four private and Christian schools. He has committed his experience, energy and passion providing America’s children with a sacred education instead of a secular one. His mission is to lead children and families to Christ by bringing the cause of Kingdom Education to the forefront in churches and communities.
Edward received a BS in Zoology/Chemistry and an MAT in Secondary Education from the University of Memphis. Speaking and consulting regularly in churches, schools, associations and conventions, Edward builds the case for Christians to make true disciples of their children through Biblical worldview education. Both he and his wife, Wanda, have taught youth and adult Bible study classes in their various churches over the last 43 years. He currently serves on staff as Pastor of Kingdom Education and President of Florida Christian Schools, Inc., the Christian school-starting ministry of the church.
Chaplain Moore noted, “Ed has exhibited his heart for Christian education and by God’s leading, has helped establish 30 new Christian schools. What a godly legacy he is building for generations to come.”
Dr. Dreyfus, a prominent retired Florida dentist and inventor of a device to relieve neuromuscular pain for dental use, served as president of the Florida Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He has more than 46 years of volunteer work on behalf of family values and K-12 Christian education in Florida and now serves as the Florida state coordinator for the Exodus Mandate Project.
Chaplain Moore noted that the 2015 award is the ninth to be awarded. Past recipients include: Thomas C. Pinckney, M.A., Brigadier General USAF Ret. and Bruce N. Shortt, J.D., Ph.D. (2007); Brian D. Ray, Ph.D., president of the National Home Education Research Institute (2008); Gena and Paul Suarez, publishers of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine (2009); Geri and Bob Boyd, Issues in Education radio ministry (2010); Alice Moore, 1974 WV textbook protester (2011); Joyce and Eric Burges, National Black Home Educators (NBHE) (2012); Dan Smithwick, Nehemiah Institute (2013); Zan Tyler, Apologia Press (2014).
