Music City Center Will Be Effective Venue for General Assembly
When delegates of the 76th International General Assembly of the Church of God gather in Nashville, Tennessee this July, there will be features unique to this venue that are poised make the gathering one of the most enjoyable and productive in recent years.
The Music City Center is a brand-new convention center which opened in 2014 in the heart of downtown Nashville. Comparing it with the Orange County Convention Center, the venue of the last three Assemblies in Orlando, the MCC is four levels of meeting space with enough attached, covered parking to accommodate all delegates. For those staying in nearby hotels, the MCC’s location is strategically located where adequate hotel space is no more than a five block walk.
Once inside the MCC, the five primary gathering halls on the third level offer thousands of square feet of floor space to allow for an expansive exhibit area and a worship venue with enough room to shift seating at an angle offering a premium view for all delegates. The MCC is equipped with the latest “plug-in” technology, where projection and audio can offer the best experience possible.
For the first time in recent history, the worship venue and General Council locations will be in separate locations. While still in the MCC, the Ordained Bishops will gather on the fourth level for their sessions which begin on Tuesday morning, July 19. This allows for the worship venue to be available for other functions, most notably the women’s service to be held on Tuesday evening while the General Council continues in session. The General Council location will have adequate seating for both the ordained bishops and delegates wishing to observe the business proceedings.
Other innovations of the MCC include the space and ability to provide an expanded food service in the exhibit area, as well as the possibility of food trucks that have become popular in large cities.
The general assembly is scheduled for July 19-22, 2016. Delegate registration and hotel information is available at www.ga16.org or by visiting www.churchofgod.org and clicking on the assembly graphic.
