Activists to Hold Sit-in, Pray-in at Site of Republican Convention
Groups plan to hold a sit-in/pray-in in front of Quicken Loans Arena on Wednesday, July 13 at 1:00 P.M. Quicken Loans Arena is where the Republican National Convention will be held the following week.
The activists will kneel on the steps of Quicken Loans Arena or in the streets directly in front of the Arena, being a voice for the 900 children that are violently killed through abortion every day at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics across America.
Groups will also ask that the $540,000,000 given to Planned Parenthood annually instead go to 13,000 federally licensed health clinics that provide true comprehensive women’s health care.
This sit-in/pray-in is part of a three day campaign in Cleveland, from July 13-15, calling for the Republican Party to defund Planned Parenthood in their Party Platform.
Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Washington, D.C. based in Washington, D.C., states;
“We are coming to Cleveland to send a powerful message to the Republican Party and Donald Trump, they cannot call themselves pro-life if they continue to give the largest abortion provider in the world hundreds of millions of dollars every year.
“We are asking that the $540,000,000 go to the over 13,000 licensed federal clinics that provide far more services and choices to women than Planned Parenthood and are not under federal investigation.
“Simply stated, Donald Trump and the republicans cannot win back the White House without the passionate support of the pro-life community. Taking the bold step of defunding Planned Parenthood in the Party Platform is a positive move in ensuring Mr. Trump gets that support.
“Like the heroic civil rights workers a generation ago, we will be peacefully risking arrest being a voice for the voiceless and speaking truth to power that the time has come to end the violence of abortion and see it ends up on the scrapheap of history like segregation and slavery.”
Mark Harrington, National Director of Created Equal, adds;
“The eyes of the world will be focused on Cleveland, OH this summer as the GOP nominates their candidate for the President of the United States. Decisions will be made at the convention that will influence our nation for a generation.
“A coalition of pro-life groups and activists is forming to take advantage of this historic opportunity to collectively raise our voice for the preborn. We demand the Republican Party defend the preborn but we are also calling our nation to repent for 43 years of unabated child killing.”
