McClung to Address Pentecostal World Conference in Brazil
Dr. Grant McClung, president of Missions Resource Group, is scheduled as a plenary speaker to the World Missions Leaders Forum during the 24th Pentecostal World Conference, scheduled to convene in Sao Paulo, Brazil from September 7 – 10. The international conference, meeting triennially since 1947, will convene under the interdenominational umbrella of the Pentecostal World Fellowship (PWF).
“The Pentecostal World Fellowship,” McClung notes, “is one of the oldest and largest cooperative global networks in the Pentecostal Movement. It is a non-legislative, cooperative fellowship of Pentecostal churches and groups worldwide. From its inception, the PWF has emphasized the stated mission and vision of being a coalition of commitment for the furtherance of the gospel to the ends of the world.” To further execute the mission of world evangelization the PWF has established a World Missions Commission, (WMC) composed of world missions executives from the major Pentecostal organizations, networks, and affiliate associations. McClung represents the Church of God as a member of the WMC Executive Committee and also serves the commission as a Missiological Advisor.
“The WMC World Missions Forum provides a cooperative space for fellowship, collaboration, and peer mentoring among the key world missions leaders of the global Pentecostal movement,” McClung noted. One of the resources coming out of this collaboration is a cooperative book publishing effort between the Church of God and the Pentecostal World Fellowship. The book, Together in One Mission: Pentecostal Cooperation in World Evangelization, is co-edited by McClung and Arto Hamalainen, the Chairman of the PWF World Missions Commission (Pathway Press 2012; available from http://www.pathwaybookstore.com).
“Together in One Mission,” states Church of God General Overseer Timothy Hill, “makes a significant contribution to world evangelization, detailing the teamwork among Pentecostals to reach the lost. We have sometimes been viewed as fragmented; but there is, however, a great move of cooperation among us that is greatly impacting the global harvest.”
McClung has published extensively on world evangelization, posting numerous resources for world missions leaders and the local church at www.MissionsResourceGroup.org. A veteran field missionary, seminary trainer, and missions leader, McClung is currently serving in an at-large capacity for global missionary education through Church of God World Missions. He is a former member of the Church of God International Executive Council (2006 – 2010).
The leadership in the PWF Advisory and Consultative Committees also includes members from additional cooperative networks (such as Empowered 21) across the Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements. The PWF has long established fraternal relations with the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) and has sent representative participants to the recently formed Global Christian Forum.
