PTS Welcomes Willow Creek Leader
Cleveland, TN–On Thursday, October 27, Aaron Niequist, innovative leader of Willow Creek Community Church’s experimental worship service, The Practice, will be the special guest for the Robert E. Fisher chapel service at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary (PTS). Niequist will lead worship in chapel followed by time of discussion.
The Practice meets in a small chapel on the Willow Creek Community campus. Unlike contemporary “seeker friendly” worship services, it follows a more traditional liturgical format. Each week, the worship centers on one particular Christian practice. These practices are designed to help people deepen their walk as Christ’s disciples.
“The church exists to equip the people for ministry,” notes Niequist, “yet in the last few years we are getting the sense we are not creating the disciples we wish we were.” This call for deeper practices of discipleship hits a nerve among a growing number of young Evangelicals in search of more beauty, depth and tradition than they normally experience in seeker friendly worship services.
The public is invited to attend both the chapel service at 11:00 AM and the following luncheon discussion. Those planning to attend the luncheon should RSVP at [email protected]. Both events are being held in the Knight Conference Hall on the PTS campus.
