Campus Convocation Begins Tuesday
Cleveland, TN–The campus of the Church of God International Offices will come together beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, January 10, for a three-day revival called “Agree ’17.”
Dr. Mark Rutland will be the featured speaker for the revival set to begin at 10:45 a.m. EST. It is expected to conclude at 12:00 noon each day following, January 11 and 12.
The event will be livestreamed on the Church of God website (www.churchofgod.org).
In addition, taking place this week will be a nightly online prayer gathering, also generating from the International Offices. It will begin at 7:00 p.m. nightly, January 10-12 and will be co-hosted by General Overseer Tim Hill and National Prayer Coordinator Doug Small. According to Small, each member of the International executive Committee will be involved, there will be reports and testimonies from around the world, and an active prayer line at 1-855-14HOPE. Prayer requests can also be tweeted via the hashtag #A17.
Musical guests for the morning revival will feature the Lee University’s Voices of Lee, led by Danny Murray (Tuesday), Director of the Lee Singers Brad Moffett (Wednesday) and Minister of Music at Westmore Church of God, Steve Allen (Thursday).
Rutland is a missionary, evangelist, and president of Global Servants. He was the third president of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Prior to his election at ORU, Rutland served as president of Southeastern University of the Assemblies of God in Lakeland, Florida, for ten years. Additionally he has served as Pastor of Calvary Assembly of God in Orlando, and as an Associate Pastor at Mount Paran Church of God in Atlanta. He is the founder of Global Servants, formerly known as the Trinity Foundation, an organization centered on missions and evangelism around the world, and the House of Grace, a home for tribal girls threatened by sexual slavery in Chiang Rai City, Thailand. He also has a thirty-minute syndicated radio program entitled “Herald of Joy.”
General Overseer Hill conceived AGREE ’17 to be a multi-faceted process to engage people in several aspects of discipleship. In addition to the revival and nightly prayer meetings, last week thousands joined a three-week emphasis on fasting where those that are participating were encouraged to chart their own course in how and what to fast, rather than a prescribed schedule. On January 1, the 2017 version of the READ Initiative was launched, an online subscription of Bible verses emailed every day to participants with the goal to complete all 66 books in one year.
Hill encouraged as many people that can to tune into both the morning convocations and the nightly prayer meeting.
“I can’t think of a better way to bring in a new year than with prayer and worship,” Hill stated. “While we don’t know what 2017 holds, we can do our part in seeking Him. I am anticipating an outpouring of blessings from all of these events and encourage everyone who can to find one or more ways to participate.”
