Agree ’18 Prayer Emphasis Reaches Thousands
For the second consecutive year the Church of God has hosted a three-day event called ‘Agree’ based upon the scripture from Matthew 18:19: “If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my father in heaven will do it for you.”
Agree ’18 was conceived as a venue for the International Offices family to together for a time of dedication and prayer for the New Year. Because it was broadcast via livestream, the time together turned into a global event—literally. Morning chapel gatherings featured times of powerful anointing with the ministries of Mark Walker, Tim Hill and Jentezen Franklin.
As impactful as the morning services were, three evening prayer gatherings conducted on January 9, 10, and 11 reached an additional level of consecration in which thousands engaged on a nightly basis. Led jointly by General Overseer Tim Hill and Church of God Prayer Coordinator Doug Small, the 90-minute prayer times consisted of interviews with church leaders, interspersed with times of dedicated prayer for departments, regions, people groups, and evangelism efforts. Virtually every ministry initiative of the Church of God was touched, as well as concentrated prayer focuses on the persecuted church and places where natural disasters have devastated homes and churches.
The final night of Agree ’18 on January 11 was a reflection of the previous two, but with what seemed to be an extra dose of the unction of the Holy Spirit. There was a focus on the global harvest, and reaching the lost in countries not hospitable to the Gospel. It was followed with prayer around a large globe, which had been the focal point of concert prayer during the event. Powerful prayers from the globe were followed up by groups of children and young people who called upon the Father in their own ways. Tim Hill led a discussion about revival and awakening. There were other powerful moments, many of them spontaneous.
During all three nights viewers were encouraged to call in prayer requests. Those viewing via Facebook Live were also urged to “share” their experience with others. In the Thursday night prayer event, the general overseer called for everyone to call or email one name – a first name of a loved one or friend in need. The response was overwhelming and powerfully demonstrated by spreading the requests upon a table where the wives of the Executive Committee and state youth directors, representing burdened mothers, prayed fervently. Many carried away handfuls of the names to continue prayer in the days to come. The scene was moving and anointed and capped off three days of life-changing prayers heard around the globe.
Engagement among social media and livestream viewers topped over 75,000 on Thursday, a sign of the move of the Spirit that reached beyond the walls of the International Offices. Agree ’18 was all the leaders prayed it would be, and much more.
