Kanye West Quits Secular Music, Will Only Create Gospel Music From Now On

Rapper and producer Kanye West says he’s done with secular music and will only create gospel music from now on, according to reports.

Fox Business says Chicago music promoter Andrew Barber was in the same room when West made this comment at a listening party for his new album, Jesus Is King.

Barber tweeted the news yesterday, Sept. 29:

“Kanye also announced that he is no longer making secular music. Only Gospel from here on out.”

Barber told Fox Business that West said he’s “done being an entertainer.”

Barber also revealed on Twitter the cover art for West’s upcoming album, which was set to release Sunday, though no new music from West came out that day.

“Just heard Kanye’s new album Jesus Is King and saw the accompanying film. My favorite track is the last song and it features the Clipse. Both Push & No Malice. Kenny G is also on it. ‘New Body’ has been cut from the album.”

West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, told The View earlier this month that her husband’s new album played a big role in his conversion to Christianity. She says when he started to heal himself, it was a private matter that he kept among his friends and family.

“He has had an amazing evolution of being born again and being saved by Christ,” she says.

West also made a guest appearance at Chance The Rapper’s concert in Chicago for The Big Day tour, according to The Fader. While on stage, West told the crowd that they “came here tonight to declare that Jesus Christ is King.”
