ASCM Sees Record Registration for Summer Online Courses
Cavite, Philippines–For the first time ever, the Asian Seminary of Christian Ministries (ASCM) recently offered two fully online summer courses. Carefully selected to meet today’s ministry needs, the two classes drew a record sign-up of 236 students, including both audit and credit enrollees.
“It has been an amazing response,” stated Dr. Marc A. Morris, President of ASCM. “There is a growing need awareness to be better trained for ministry at the highest level. There is also a lot of pent up demand developing during the COVID 19 pandemic. The online format seems to be perfect for ASCM’s model to provide accessible, high quality education at the most affordable pricing.”
The two summer courses, which kicked-off July 13, 2020 and end August 14, 2020, are:
Pastoral Counseling: Caring for People in Crisis with Dr. Butch Varner
Healthy Hermeneutics: Wise Ways of Interpreting Scripture with Oxford doctoral candidate Prof. Doreen Benavidez
Both classes meet twice a week in three- hour sessions via Google Classroom online.
One pastor who is attending posted on Facebook: “Today, I was a student in the ASCM google class of Professor Doreen Alcoran Benavidez on Hermeneutics. It was well worth my time. She is an excellent professor. Her exegesis of Mark 4 was full of new insights. It also served as a refresher course for me on the basics of sound biblical interpretation. I urge all Pastors to continue to upgrade yourselves in the deeper study of the Word. You cannot give what you do not have. A good preacher and teacher is first and foremost a diligent student of the Word!”
“It is noteworthy that twenty-seven registrants, out of 236 summer enrollees, signed-up from 15 other countries outside the Philippines, “ commented Asia Pacific Field Director Andrew Binda. “As Asia Pacific’s flagship higher education institution, ASCM is uniquely positioned and qualified to prepare people to make a significant impact for His kingdom work in Asia and around the world. We invite everyone to check out ASCM’s CHED recognized and ATA/ATASEA accredited degree programs. ASCM is now for everyone everywhere.” Binda further stated.
Starting September 1, 2020, first semester SY 2020-2021, ASCM will be implementing all classes online. This will enable more outstanding international adjunct faculty to join ASCM’s excellent core teaching team first semester.
“There has never been a better time or opportunity to earn accredited hours toward a bonafide degree program though ASCM,” asserts Morris. “Just like the two summer online courses, ASCM is preparing a roster of international faculty and content to enrich, empower and equip the students.”
The degree programs being offered by ASCM include: Bachelor of Theology, Bachelor of Christian Education, Master of Arts in Christian Leadership, Master of Divinity and Master of Social Work.
