Hill Casts Vision for 2020-2022 Period
General Overseer Tim Hill delivered a vision-casting message on Friday, September 18, 2020, setting the direction for ministry and harvest over the next two years.
Capping a historic week in the Church of God, Hill’s message, which was delivered live as the keynote of a Friday night “Global Celebration,” outlined the General Overseer’s burden for the Church of God to be, “The Church on Mission.”
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, three significant events that traditionally are weeks apart, took place virtually over a three-day period between September 16-18, 2020. The regularly-scheduled September gathering of the International Executive Council happened on Wednesday as 17 of the Council of 18 joined the Zoom conference with the Executive Committee. On Friday, state/regional overseers, youth directors, and International Offices directors and coordinators gathered by Zoom for their annual Leadership Conference, where compelling and challenging presentations were delivered live by Ed Stetzer, Mark Rutland, and Leonard Sweet, among others.
One additional event was a virtual Women’s Ministries Awards ceremony on Thursday evening. The WM Advisory Council, led by Paula Hill, welcomed state WM presidents from across the nation who received an update on activities and projects, and heard recognitions of the state winners who raised the most funds toward the 2018-2020 WM project, the House of Cherith.
The final event of that week was broadcast on Facebook Live that night, September 18, and took on the character of the traditional Friday night service of a General Assembly, with powerful praise and worship delivered by Jason Crabb, and the Voices of Lee. General Overseer Hill delivered his 30-minute challenge as the climax to the evening of celebration calling the Church of God to be “The Church on Mission”
