Lee University to Host Virtual Homecoming
Cleveland, TN–Lee University will host its annual Homecoming celebration online from Friday, Nov. 13-Sunday, Nov. 15 to celebrate Lee alumni. This year’s theme is “Forever a Flame.”
“For the first time ever, distance will not be an issue,” said Dr. Brad Moffett, Lee’s vice president for university relations. “Our entire alumni community can celebrate Homecoming together.”
Lee’s Homecoming will kick off with the Fan the Flame Leadership Summit on Friday morning. This event will feature Dr. Paul Conn, Lee University chancellor, as the keynote speaker. The summit will also feature sessions led by alumni leaders discussing the best practices and strategies of leadership in specific career arenas.
A new element of Homecoming is the Forever a Flame entertainment event on Friday evening, which will include music from a variety of ensembles and an alumni choir.
Saturday morning will begin with the Viking Dash: Run/Walk Virtual 5k. Alumni are encouraged to participate from anywhere in the world as they wear Lee gear and share photos on social media when they complete the 5k.
Homecoming will continue with Living Legends, a conversation between three past and present Lee presidents: Conn, Dr. Lamar Vest, and Dr. Mark Walker. Prior to Living Legends, a special presentation of History of Lee Presidents will take place.
The virtual Homecoming celebration will include elements of traditional events in the We Are Lee broadcast, which will announce the Homecoming Court, the distinguished and honorary alumni, the launch of the Lee 1918 Society, and premiere video of the Voices of Lee.
Homecoming will conclude Sunday morning with an alumni-led worship service broadcast live from the Lee Chapel with both in-person and video segments.
The Forever a Flame Silent Auction will begin Thursday evening and end at noon on Saturday, showcasing over 75 items, including vintage Lee memorabilia, for attendees to submit bids for. The list of featured items includes a Paul Conn bobblehead, reserved on-campus parking for one year, vintage Lee mugs, and tickets to Atlanta and Chattanooga attractions.
The entire week will be a celebration of Lee graduates leading up to the Homecoming weekend. These week-day events will culminate with an alumni-led chapel service Thursday morning for the entire Lee community.
“By reimagining our traditions and developing some fantastic new events for a virtual format, we are excited that we will still be able to bring the Lee University campus family and alumni community together to celebrate Homecoming 2020,” said Dr. Susan Ashcraft, director of alumni relations.
