2021 Smoky Mountain Gathering Planned for April
One of the first Church of God events to be cancelled in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic was the Smoky Mountain Gathering. It was supposed to be a celebration of the 30th year of the event designed for senior adults in the Church of God.
Based upon an ever-evolving set of circumstances, the Church of God has tentatively announced the 30th Smoky Mountain Gathering (SMG), “Reaching a Jubilee Generation,” will take place on April 27-29, 2021 at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Some of the guest artists originally scheduled to appear have agreed to return and include Dennis Swanberg, Doyle Dykes, as well as the Martins and the New Speer family. Special events will include a SpiritCare Banquet, Veteran’s Breakfast, talent showcase, and an optional day at Dollywood (admission to Dollywood is extra).
H.W. “Dusty” Wilson is coordinating the SMG and issued the following statement in regards to the event: “In an effort to fully and completely protect the health and welfare of all 2021 Smoky Mountain Gathering delegates, during the current COVID-19 pandemic, and to allow us to resume our annual Senior Adult Retreat, procedures will be implemented and maintained until further notice. Should COVID19 pandemic protocols continue to be in place by April of 2021, we are prepared to comply with all safety concerns for the health and well-being of our constituents.” An option to read the full statement on the details of the protocols pops up when the website, smokymountaingathering.com, is visited. There, more information can be gleaned about nearby hotels and area attractions, as well as full information regarding the guest artists and Senior Talent guidelines.
Both group and individual registration is available through the website. Registration is encouraged via email, but a mail-in option is available.
