Pro-Life Activists Rally with Prayerful Procession
Pro-life activists from throughout New Jersey will gather in front of the State House Annex Friday, January 22, for an 11:00 a.m. peaceful rally, followed by a prayer walk past Planned Parenthood.
January 22 marks the 48th anniversary of the Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision. The New Jersey Right To Life organization has held rallies at the state house capitol for the past 20 years.
This year’s rally will, for the first time, include a prayer walk past Planned Parenthood in Trenton. Planned Parenthood is the leading abortion provider in America, where more than 62 million babies have been killed by abortion. Over 21 million of those babies were African American.
A state-wide collaboration of pro-life groups known as “Working Together for New Jersey” is supporting New Jersey Right To Life in its mission and will be participating in the rally as well as the walk.
This collaboration of organizations birthed “Walk For Life New Jersey,” which will be an annual event in support of New Jersey Right To Life’s annual rally.
The partnership of pro-life groups has raised the public’s awareness of draconian legislation such as the “Reproductive Freedom Act” (S-3030), pending before the NJ legislature. This bill would lower health standards for women seeking abortion by no longer requiring licensed physicians to perform the procedure. The bill would also permit children who have survived an abortion to be terminated outside of the womb.
The members and supporters of the coalition have been also petitioning legislators to instead pass legislation (S-429/A-2228) that would prevent abortions past 20 weeks, when babies can feel pain. Currently there are no restrictions on abortion throughout all 9 months of pregnancy in New Jersey.
The rally and Walk for Life will begin at 11 a.m. Friday (Jan. 22) in front of the NJ State House Annex, 145 West State St., Trenton.
