Hill Shares Video for Pastors and Members of the Church of God
Cleveland, TN—Church of God General Overseer Tim Hill has released a video message directed toward all pastors, ministers and laity in the denomination. He addresses current world situations and offers encouragement from a pastor’s heart.
Hill opens the message with an update on the ongoing tragedy in Afghanistan. Hill calls for prayer for the military, leadership, the relief effort, and Christians and missionaries that remain in the embattled country.
He then addressed the devastation in Haiti, sharing his experience of traveling to the country following the previous earthquake. He thanked those who have already reached out with donations and offerings to Operation Compassion and World Missions to provide relief for the families of the more than 2,000 that have perished. The Church of God has received word of many churches and members’ homes that have been damaged or destroyed.
The rise of the Delta variant of the coronavirus was also on Hill’s heart as he shared his concern for the local pastor and the disappointment of a seemingly backward shift in recovery from the global pandemic. “I have received reports of pastors and members who have continued to contract the virus and are at various levels of being sick,” Hill stated. He goes on to offer a word of encouragement to say that “God has not forsaken us…God says, ‘I have you in the palm of My hand—trust Me.’” Hill concluded his comments on Covid-19 by saying, “Let’s be prayerful, but let’s also be at rest (in God).”
Hill reminded the audience of the availability of the online resource catered to the Church of God concerning the virus, coronacog.com. At the site is the latest information concerning CDC guidelines, advice for churches, and other items.
Before a concluding prayer, Hill announced a special online global livestream broadcast coming up on Thursday, September 16 at 6:30 EST. The service will include an update from Hill and the Executive Committee, followed by a time of worship and praise and a timely message from Dr. Mark Rutland. The service will take place via livestream on the Church of God Facebook page (@COGHQ).
