Community Service Chaplaincy Course Available June 6-10
Community Service Chaplains around the world are fulfilling the missional mandate to take the hope of the gospel outside the walls of the local church. The Church of God Chaplains Commission is the ministry of the Church of God that provides the official endorsement for ordained ministers to fill positions as vocational chaplains, but the Commission also certifies the training of both clergy and lay people to serve as volunteer Community Service Chaplains.
The Community Service Chaplain (CSC) arm of the Chaplains Commission offers training courses designed to equip, empower, and entrust passionate volunteers. CSC training equips individuals with an understanding of key issues, concepts, and skills that promote personal growth, family care, and church outreach. The training includes such topics as serving in a pluralistic context, prayer in the public forum, ministry of presence, crisis, stress, ethics and confidentiality, moral injury, death notification, grief, and a host of other subjects relevant to community ministry.
Frank from Florida attended a class in January and wrote, “I was truly blessed with the modules related to the CSC training. As a current ordained minister with the Church of God, I am proud that our organization provides such excellence and professionalism in the area of chaplaincy. The course opened my eyes to a new world of service. I better understand the need for the ministry of presence.”
DeAnna from Indiana expressed, “The CSC class through the Church of God was life changing for me. I learned so much from the instructors, the curriculum, and the guest speakers. My desire to love and help others has grown even more through this training. I feel so much confidence now as I go forward to serve God in the area of CSC.”
