Cleveland, TN–Published three times a year, the Spring/Summer 2023 issue of Church of God Engage journal has been released digitally at cogengage.org.
Engage is emailed directly to ministers, pastors, staff and leaders in the Church of God. It is also available to anyone through logging into the website. This current issue, released on Monday, May 22, features a report on the recent retiring of debt on the Church of God International Offices campus. There is also a feature on the origin of the Ministerial Internship Program (MIP), founded in the state of Hawaii fifty years ago. Other articles include “Six Ways Not to Take An Offering,” and a report on recent action taken and announced by the International Executive Council. General Overseer Tim Hill continues the series, “Let’s Talk About It,” with his latest entry entitled, “Humbly Ambitious: Keeping Ambition in Check.”
The Doctrine and Polity papers, a series of articles that addresses the Church of God’s core values, continues in this issue with a focus on the Church of God’s stance on “Progressive Christianity.” It is addressed by recently retired Lee Professor Dr. Jerald Daffe, a long-time member of the Doctrine and Polity committee.
Recurring sections include a column penned by Church of God Legal Counsel Dennis Watkins who addresses some “overlooked” church insurance topics. President and CEO of the Benefits Board Art Rhodes asks the question, “Are We Facing Another Financial Crisis?”
Engage offers Church of God news, practical ministry ideas, recommendations, and resources, as well as items for the local church. In addition, advertisements throughout the publication are provided by the departments and ministries of the Church of God and include live links to websites of advertisers.
