Van Buskirk explained, “My life changed when I heard a talk at a men’s group on The Ten Commandments, realizing I couldn’t recall them all from memory. I felt the Holy Spirit moving me to not only memorize them, but to dive deep into learning every aspect of them, and challenging myself to live them. I discovered how they are the antidote to everyday problems, and felt a strong desire to teach others the time-tested wisdom of God’s Commandments in a fresh positive way.”
In 2018, Van Buskirk founded “If U Love Me,” a ministry dedicated to help others “get back to the basics” and “restore truth in this world of confusion,” based on the scripture, John 14:15, where Jesus says, “If you love me, you will keep my Commandments.” He then spent his time writing the “God’s Recipe for a Wonderful Life” book and professionally producing an 11-week video study for parishes and individuals, which he launched in 2021. Over 1,000 have already completed the study.
Following on that success, “God’s Recipe for School and Family: Learning and Living the Ten Commandments” program for Catholic Schools was launched, placing permanent Ten Commandment plaques in classrooms and school common areas, along with ten monthly activities, featuring one commandment per month, as well as “take home Family Kits” families can do together.
If U Love Me is hosting a 5th Anniversary Celebration, Tuesday, October 3rd at Thomas More Church in Kansas City, Missouri announcing plans to expand nationally through studies, Lenten parish missions, retreats, pilgrimages, and “Lunch and Learn” series, hoping to impact every church, school, and family across the nation.
