Space Force Hymn Wins Top Award in Competition
The United States Space Force has much to celebrate. On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, James ‘Jim’ F. Linzey, author of the United States Space Force Hymn, entered the Space Force Hymn in a poetry competition which was sponsored by the regional writers’ guild, called ‘Coffeyville Night Writers,’ in Coffeyville, Kansas. The Space Force Hymn won first place.
Jim Linzey, a former Air Force Captain, moved to Coffeyville three years ago. This year, he was invited to join the Coffeyville Night Writers, and did so to encourage fellow authors.
The purpose of the ‘Coffeyville Night Writers’ is to encourage professional development and foster excellence in the writing skills of its members. “When I joined, I was not aware that there would be awards. I joined since I was invited and to encourage fellow residents of Coffeyville,” Linzey said. “I came to Coffeyville to understand the culture and history of my mother, Verna May Hall Linzey, and her clan—the Hall family. I also desire to help the city in any way to prosper and experience the move of the Holy Spirit.”
Linzey is one of the Coffeyville celebrities due to his achievements in the motion picture and recording industries, entertainment and performing arts, and as a bestselling author. He has numerous books, hymns, articles, poems, and three albums to his credit. He made a cameo in a major motion picture called ‘Iniquity’ and hosted the television and radio programs—Operation Freedom worldwide. He is listed with the other Coffeyville celebrities such as Gary Busey, Phil Ehart, Reb Russell, and Verna Linzey on the City of Coffeyville’s Celebrities page at Coffeyville.Org.
Linzey wrote the Space Force Hymn in Coffeyville. On February 29, 2020, the Coffeyville Journal stated, “Coffeyville proudly serves as home of the United States Space Force Hymn, ‘Creator of the Universe.'” The City of Coffeyville is pleased that its prestigious regionally renowned writers’ guild awarded the Space Force Hymn first place.
