Countdown to Empowered21 Begins

ulsa, OK – The countdown for Empowered21: Global Congress on Holy Spirit Empowerment in the 21st Century, being held April 8-10 in Tulsa, has begun. Over 400 premier ministry leaders and scholars from over 80 countries will participate in Empowered21. It is estimated that attendance will top 10,000. There will be many auxiliary events taking place in addition to the 210 learning conversation sessions facilitated by scholars and ministry leaders from around the world who will be sharing information and leading discussion in 35 distinct tracks important to the Spirit Empowered Movement.

On Thursday, April 8, along with several pre-Congress events taking place, there will be a dedication of the new Oral Roberts University (ORU) Hispanic Center, which is the first of its kind in the nation at a Christian university. The Center is intended to be a place of welcome for prospective Latino students while offering resources to help them achieve success as students. Sammy Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and ORU’s president, Dr. Mark Rutland, will be speaking at the grand opening.

The opening session on Thursday night begins with an advanced screening of the Hollywood release, Letters To God, a movie that will hit theatres nationwide on Friday, April 9. It is from the producers of Fireproof and Facing the Giants.

There will be special luncheons throughout Empowered21. Mart Green, CEO and founder of Mardel’s and David Green, CEO and founder of Hobby Lobby, will host a Marketplace luncheon on Friday, April 9, giving attendees an inspirational perspective on ministry in a business setting. Also on Friday Lisa Bevere, Co-founder of Messenger International, and Lynette Lewis, international motivational speaker and author will speak at the Ladies Luncheon. Saturday, Rick Bezet, lead pastor of New Life Church in Arkansas, will speak at the Pastor/Ministry Leaders Luncheon along with other outstanding pastoral voices. New life Church was ranked by Outreach magazine as America’s fastest-growing church in 2009.

In addition, Convoy of Hope and the Tulsa Dream Center are partnering together during Empowered21 for a special benevolence outreach to the city of Tulsa. Congress attendees will be given a hands-on opportunity to bless and impact the host city for Christ in a practical way.

During the last year, conversation events with these groups of Christian leaders, scholars and next gens have taken place around the world with over 530 people from 54 different nations. The major thrust was a focus on the future of Spirit-empowered Christianity and how to engage new generations for Christ. The culmination of these global conversations is Empowered21.

The general sessions will be broadcast internationally on Daystar TV and Enlace TV, streamed via Streaming Faith and aired locally on KGEB TV. Languages offered in translation at the Congress include: Spanish, French, Russian, Korean, Chinese, German and Portuguese.
