“If Price Chapel Church of God will keep their eyes on Jesus, not look to the left or look to the right, but keep their eyes on Jesus, I will do great and exploit miracles like the church has never seen before.” And Praise God, since that time, God has proved himself that His word is true.
I came to Price Chapel Church of God in Lavonia, Georgia, December 14, 1997. The first Sunday morning I preached, we had 35 people in attendance for morning worship. Because of the lack of finances, I pastored yet, at the same time, continued to work a public job. I immediately began to pray and ask God to bless the finances of the church. During my prayer time, God spoke to my heart and told me that if we would take the first Sunday morning offering of each month and send one half to World Missions and one half to the Smoky Mountain Home for Children in Sevierville, TN, that He would bless our finances. After speaking with the finance committee, we began immediately to do what the Lord had said.
By April 1998, the Lord had blessed the church with new souls and also blessed our finances to the extent that the elders of the church came to me and asked me about quitting my public job and going full time as pastor. After praying, the Lord showed me it was His will that I quit. I turned in my resignation with my public job after 26 years of employment. Since then, God has blessed me and the church tremendously.
Shortly after I became full time, God spoke a prophecy to the church through a sister in the congregation – “If Price Chapel Church of God will keep their eyes on Jesus, not look to the left or look to the right, but keep their eyes on Jesus, I will do great and exploit miracles like the church has never seen before.” And Praise God, since that time, God has proved himself that His word is true.
In 2002, the construction of our new church was completed. The sanctuary now seats approximately 500. All for the glory of God! The scripture that is displayed in a cornerstone of the church is 1 Corinthians 10:31 – “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
