One Pair of Boots, One Little Girl
ROMANIA — She looked at them, posed a little bit, and with a grin said they were good. It is really very surprising how something that you and I may take for granted can be so important and so meaningful to a small child.
We were recently visiting the Bread of Life Orphanage in Brosteni. This is always something that I look forward to, I just love the kids there and we always have fun. On this trip we had the opportunity to give away brand new winter boots that we received in a container from the States. All of the children enjoyed themselves as they came into the room where the boots were, two or three at a time and found their own pair. One young girl had only been at the orphanage a couple of days before we arrived. She came in and looked at all the beautiful shoes and boots, and she really didn’t know what to do.
As the other children would come and go, she just couldn’t find the right pair of boots. She had something special in mind and just didn’t see them anywhere. After about 1⁄2 an hour she started to get discouraged and everyone began looking for “her” boots. Then it happened, under a couple of other pairs of boots I found a pair that I thought she would like. I pulled the boots out, and took them over to her. She looked at them and a smile that looked too big for her small mouth flashed across her face. She quickly removed the shoes she was wearing and as we prayed under our breath that they would fit, she slipped them onto her feet. She looked at them, posed a little bit, and with a grin said they were good. It is really very surprising how something that you and I may take for granted can be so important and so meaningful to a small child. God bless you, and thank you for supporting us so that we can let our lights shine and cause people to glorify our God.
