Day of Prayer for Creation Care to be Held May 20
The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE), the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), Intercessors for America (IFA) the Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN), and ministries from around the country are calling for Friday May 20, 2011 to be a National Day of Prayer for Creation Care. The groups are praying for women and men of integrity in government, industry, and media to help champion the cause of protecting the unborn from mercury.
“Jesus says that we are not to hinder or harm the children, but when it comes to mercury, we are putting an unsustainable burden on the unborn. It’s time for us to take the right steps to protect the unborn from mercury pollution,” said Rev. Mitch Hescox, EEN President/CEO. Annually 700,000 babies are born with harmful levels of mercury in their blood. Mercury is extremely toxic to the brain, especially to the rapidly developing brain of the unborn child during early pregnancy.
The ministries have developed resources, prayers and messages to help churches and individuals from across the country join the day of prayer. For more information visit prayerforcreationcare.org. You can find out more about mercury at creationcare.org/mercury.
