Action Sports Athletes Invest in Next Generation

This September 21-25, pro and amateur athletes, youth pastors, company owners, artists, musicians and youth workers will gather together at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the 2011 Skate & Action Sports Conference.

Wakeboarders, skateboarders, surfers, bmx riders, motorcross riders, and even snowboarders will flock to the area. They will be taking part in a 4-day conference that will equip and encourage them as they reach out to a generation of youth impacted around the world by things like violence, drug use, broken homes, and suicide.

Throughout the week, these ministries will also host free clinics, demonstrations, film premieres & contests throughout North Broward, as well as, a large event in partnership with Ramp 48 & Island Water Sports.

These leaders may all come from a variety of sports and genres but they have one thing in common. They are on a mission to impact the next generation by being a bright light in Action Sports and an example of Jesus Christ. They live for one thing…to share the Good News of how Christ has changed and impacted their lives.

Also, expect to see ministries on hand such as I Am Second, Compassion International, One Hope, and The Whosoevers (founded by Sonny Sandoval of POD & Ryan Ries).

WHY AN ACTION SPORTS CONFERENCE?

Bryan Jennings, Founder and Director of Walking on Water:

“For the past 15-20 years many action sports ministries have been sharing the Gospel through surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, motorcross, wakeboarding and other sports. God has allowed us to make movies, host outreach events, and go on mission trips all over the world sharing the Gospel. It is now time to encourage, inspire, and mentor the next generation of young leaders who want to use their love of action sports, music, and film to share the Gospel!”

Jud Heald, Founder and Director of Untitled Skateboards:

“If we build a name everyone knows until we die or move to the next project and we don’t disciple the next generation to proclaim the good news we missed our calling! This Conference is a key tool to ensure we inspire and equip the next generation to carry their torch for Christ looking to the next like it was their last opportunity!”
