Since the Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion throughout the United States, an astounding 56 million lives have been aborted, many of which occurred at Planned Parenthood clinics. Countless women have been deceived by Planned Parenthood’s “helping women” mantra, including Ramona Treviño, a devout Catholic who chronicles her compelling story of involvement in the grisly abortion industry and how and why she courageously left the gruesome business in her book, REDEEMED BY GRACE: A Catholic Women’s Journey to Planned Parenthood and Back.
On a breezy March afternoon in Fresno, California, two fifth graders were navigating the wind with their dime store kites which were gracefully equipped with homemade tails for balance and “accuracy.” I was one of those “aeronautic experts.” The other was my school chum, Larry. Like newly rich millionaires, we mowed through a stash of chocolate bars that filled our pockets.
Recently, Bishop Glen and Susie Anniskette were asked to minister at an unusual place – a large local distribution company called Fokus in Goiania, Brazil. The invitation came from Marlon Vasconcelos, a local pastor and manager at Fokus. Pastor Marlon asked the Anniskettes to come and lead a devotional for his employees before their work day began. You don’t hear of these types of invitations much in America.
Both of my grandfathers were Church of God pastors. My paternal grandfather, Hosea Newton Brides, pastored congregations in North Central Texas with his wife Hester Ellenor. My maternal grandfather, George Marion Bloomingdale and his wife Bertha were traveling evangelists. Bertha passed away in 1932 and is buried on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Early in her ministry Bertha started the ‘penny march’ to contribute to the funding of the Church of God orphanage.
Bishop Glen W. Anniskette, his wife Susie, missionary/translator Willa Smith and friend Mick Toole from Ketchikan, AK joined together for an incredible two week mission trip from one end of Cuba to the other and back again.
