Workers supported by Gospel for Asia (GFA) are distributing supplies, including food, mosquito netting, hygiene products and blankets, to villagers fleeing widespread monsoon flooding across certain parts of Asia. The monsoons have killed more than 42 people and driven millions more from their homes in Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal and India.
Amid recent flooding and landslides in Myanmar, workers supported by Gospel for Asia (GFA) evacuated many villagers to higher ground and safety using the organization’s Galilee Boat. GFA-supported workers also provided villagers with relief items, including rice and water.
“What is this church doing for the community?”
In our nine years as a church, I’ve found this to be one of the most commonly asked questions by Christians, mostly millennials, who visit our church.
When Jesus was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, preparing to bear the weight of the sin of the world, He awakened His sleeping disciples and asked, “Could you not stay awake and pray with me one hour?” (Matthew 26:40, 41) That wake-up call is still echoing for His church today!
The biennial Fun in the Son Festival lived up to its name in Kingston, Jamaica on July 16th as thousands of people gathered under the warm Jamaican sun for a free family festival with international evangelist Andrew Palau. The crowd packed into National Heroes Park in Kingston to enjoy the festivities and hear the Good News of Jesus Christ proclaimed.
