Nashville, TN—The Church of God International General Council, the group of ordained bishops registered and attending last week’s International General Assembly in Nashville, began their business session on Tuesday, July 19. Following Presiding Bishop Mark Williams’ “State of the Church Address,” corporate prayer, and communion, the General Council participated in the ordinance of foot washing. The experience set a unique and beautiful tone for the ensuing business of the church.
The next general overseer of the Church of God is ready to lead from a global perspective.
The General Council completed election of the members of the Council of Eighteen on Wednesday morning, July 20. Thirteen of the 18 are newly-elected, with five returning for a second two year term.
Nashville, TN–The recipients of the 2016 Church of God Distinguished Educator of the Year Awards were announced during the International Educators Luncheon on Tuesday. The event is being held in conjunction with the 76th Church of God International General Assembly. Dr. Mary Ruth Stone, adjunct faculty instructor for the Lee University Division of Adult Learning, is the recipient of the 2016 Faculty Award. Carlos Napoleón Canizález-Rugamas, president of Seminario Bíblico Pentecostal Centroamericano (SEBIPCA), is the recipient of the 2016 Leadership Award.
Nashville, TN–Rev. Timothy M. Hill, current director of World Missions for the Church of God, was nominated by the General Council of the Church of God to serve as the next general overseer for the Cleveland, Tennessee-based denomination.
Delegates are streaming in to Nashville, Tennessee and the Music City Center for the 76th Church of God International General Assembly (GA16).
