In a July 28 pre-General Assembly gathering of nearly 1,000 missionaries and supporters, Church of God World Missions leaders announced a new award called the Circle of Global Impact and named veteran missionary Margaret Gaines as the first recipient.
The world’s leading Bible website, Bible Gateway (www.BibleGateway.com; @BibleGateway), has been granted permission by the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine to include the New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE) (bg4.me/1k4r0eV) in Bible Gateway’s extensive online database of more than 180 Bible translations.
There is growing outrage among sailors and religious-liberty advocates over a directive that calls for the removal of Bibles from lodges and hotels run on U.S. Navy bases. The directive comes after an atheist group filed a formal complaint earlier this year over the placement of Bibles in the rooms.
They don’t necessarily envision Baptists speaking in tongues or Pentecostals setting up shrines to honor the Virgin Mary. But a network of evangelical Episcopalians is at the forefront of a movement it calls “convergence,” which its leaders are careful to distinguish from another World Council of Churches-kind of organization.
