On June 17th, the United States of America and the world were shocked when it was reported that nine people were massacred during their Bible Study and prayer session at the historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME) in Charleston, SC. The shooting and killing of nine African Americans from the ages of 26 to 87 inside the church that was founded during slavery, met in secret until the end of the Civil War and is known for its social justice work to ensure voting rights and civil rights for African Americans in South Carolina; reminded America and particularly members of the Christian faith, the Biblical principle ‘loving your neighbor as you love yourself’ is not practiced by all.
Freedom’s Journal Institute for the Study of Faith and Public Policy (organizer of the Black Conservative Summit – www.freedomsjournalinstitute.org) will host a one day conference. Dr. Ben Carson, Gov. Mike Huckabee, and various Pro-life and Pro-family leaders will speak on how the conservative message not only has the power to change, but to transform lives. This conference is not limited to Black pro-lifers, but to everyone who believes that “all lives matter,” and that advocacy of life affirming public policy has limitless possibilities for elevating everyone’s standard of life. The event is co-sponsored by the World Congress of Families (www.worldcongress.org) and the Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society.
The United States National Prayer Council, the largest network of Prayer Ministry Leaders in America, announces its support and endorses new TV Series by Roma Downey, Answered Prayers. Answered Prayers’ is produced for the TLC Network by Downey’s LightWorkers Media, a division of United Artists Media Group (a newly formed joint venture among MGM, Mark Burnett, Roma Downey and Hearst Entertainment).
