Evangelist Prays Indonesian Mission Will Lead Way to Lasting Revival
As Michael Youssef prepares to preach at a series of revival meetings at the Istora stadium in Jakarta from Thursday to Saturday, the evangelist is praying this significant event will lead the way toward a long-lasting spiritual transformation throughout Indonesia—the world’s largest Muslim nation.
“My prayer is God will use these meetings to spark a revival that will continue for many years to come, and my hope is churches will be blessed by new believers coming,” says Youssef, founder and president of Leading the Way.
“As a pastor, we see new believers come to the church and really reinvigorate those who have been Christians for a long time,” he adds. “So, if we can fill these churches with an influx of new believers filled with zeal, courage and a fresh love for Christ, it will revive churches.”
Over three nights, each meeting will feature musical performances, including popular Arabic gospel singer Nagieb Labib and Indonesian diva Ruth Sahanaya, followed by a time of prayer led by local church leaders for Indonesia’s government, president and people.
Youssef will then preach to crowds of up to 15,000 on the topic “What Is the Value of Your Soul?” He is expectant many will respond.
“Economically, Indonesia has been a wonder of economic marvel because they are experiencing 6 to 7 percent annual growth, which is close to China,” Youssef explains. “Economically, the nation is booming, and it is my prayer Indonesia will spiritually boom as well.”
Youssef also believes the live broadcasts from the revival event throughout the nation, via the LIFE channel, will have a significant impact on the whole of Indonesia. “Millions of homes, in every inhabited island, will receive our meetings live. This is truly a national revival event, not just a local Jakarta revival,” he says.
Intercessory teams have been praying all over the world—in Indonesia, Australia, the U.S. and even the Middle East.
In Jakarta, the organizing team representing many different denominations is working together, mobilizing 300 prayer intercessors, 100 ushers, 300 counselors, 150 security guards, dozens of singers and musicians, and many others working behind the scenes to get the Istora stadium ready for the three big nights.
Youssef is urging continued prayer throughout the event.
“The most important thing for people to pray is for many to come to know Jesus Christ, that it will be a great harvest for the Lord,” he says. “Join us in praying for the Holy Spirit’s work in lives so this is not just an event that is over after three nights, but it would be a spark that would ignite a fire that will go on for years to come.”
The meetings will also be streamed live each day on www.leadingtheway.org.
