Spiritual Cooperation Agreement Announced with Bulgaria Church of God

In a formal declaration in a ceremony held earlier this week at the Church of God International Offices in Cleveland, Tennessee, Dr. Timothy M. Hill, General Director of Church of God World Missions, officially signed a document entitled a “Mutual Acknowledgement of Spiritual Cooperation” with the leadership of the Bulgaria Church of God.

While not a formal amalgamation agreement, Hill expressed hope that such is the beginning of a great and mutually beneficial relationship with Overseer Ventsislav Stoyvov and the approximately 150 churches associated with the Bulgaria Church of God.

“Many of the good folks in the Bulgaria Church of God have their roots in our efforts as a denomination in that country that goes back more than four decades,” Hill stated. “ Even the document that we signed today signifies that ‘we have common historical roots, a corresponding Declaration of Faith, and a shared commitment to a lifestyle of holiness in which the Word of God has first priority.’”

The Bulgaria Church of God will continue to operate as an indigenous church that is governed by the officials appointed by its General Council. However, Church of God World Missions will work with the Bulgaria Church of God in a concerted effort to spread the Good News of our coming Savior.

“While we already have very fruitful ministries and mission efforts underway in Bulgaria with Church of God congregations and affiliated groups, this ‘Spiritual Cooperation’ agreement will further our outreach to this beautiful Balkan nation in Europe,” Hill concluded. “Until everyone is won into the Kingdom of God, we will not stop our efforts to work and continue to partner with others to spread the Gospel.”
