Leaders Hold Video Conference for April MIP Seminar

An innovative video conference concerning the Ministerial Internship Program (MIP) recently took place between the leadership at the Church of God International Offices, Arkansas, and the Rocky Mountain Region.

Participating in the conference were J. David Stephens, representing the International Executive Committee, Dr. Don Bennett, representing the Division of Education, Danny Pankey, state MIP coordinator of Arkansas, and Dr. Jimmy Dickens, state MIP coordinator of the Rocky Mountain Region. These leaders were joined by their MIP candidates as part of the April MIP seminar.

The Arkansas state office recently set up its video system so that video conferencing can be done from the state office.  The Rocky Mountain Region had conducted its MIP seminars through video conferences previously because of the travel distance that the MIP participants would have had.

In the video conference, discussion took place about the role of social media, how to connect with culture, and how to integrate people into the church.

“The video conference was fruitful in several ways,” Stephens said.  “The discussion between the three sites was constructive and insightful.  Bringing the three groups together and the participation introduced a bond and fellowship with the participants.”

The video conference was the beginning of what Stephens and the Division of Education anticipates becoming a regular practice.
