Hill Is ‘Minister of the Day’ in Tennessee House
Nashville, TN–Church of God General Overseer Timothy M. Hill served as ‘Minister of the Day’ for the Tennessee State House of Representatives on Thursday, April 19, 2018. Hill opened the 9:00 a.m. session with prayer, citing Psalms 121 and blessing members of both the House and Senate leadership.
Hill was hosted and introduced by State Rep. Kevin Brooks, a member of the Communications staff at the Church of God International Offices. Brooks has served as District 24 representative in the House since his election in 2006 and is currently vice-chairman of the House Finance, Ways & Means Committee. He was recently honored as ‘Legislator of the Year’ by the Tennessee School Health Coalition.
Brooks recently resigned his Capitol Hill post to pursue election as Mayor of Cleveland, Tennessee. The election will be held later this summer.
“Over the last 12 years, it has been an honor to welcome Church of God ‘Ministers of the Day’ to the Tennessee Capitol,” Brooks stated. “I am blessed to have been chosen to serve our State and then blessed again to invite these Men of God to pray over our proceedings in the House.”
Since his 2006 election, Brooks has hosted several Church of God Ministers of the Day at the Capitol, including former General Overseer Mark Williams, Tennessee State Overseer Mitch Corder, Kelvin Page, pastor of Brooks’ home church Westmore, Business and Records Director Raymond Hodge, and just months before he passed away, the late Dr. T.L. Lowery.
“In this my last ‘Session On the Hill,’ it is a special honor for Dr. Hill to have accepted our invitation to pray in the Tennessee House of Representatives,” Brooks concluded. “As I prepare to return home to Cleveland, today is a special day in my tenure.”
