Ramirez Named to WEA International Council

The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) recently announced the names of the new members of its International Council (IC). Included on the Council is Church of God Third Assistant General Overseer David E. Ramirez.

Nominated and affirmed by its regional and national Evangelical Alliance members in an electronic election, the IC will serve as WEA’s governing board until the upcoming General Assembly in Bali, Indonesia on November 6-13, 2019.

Africa: Rev. Dr. Goodwill Shana (re-elected), Founder and Senior Pastor of Word of Life International Ministries in Zimbabwe and President of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa; Asia: Bp. Noel Pantoja (newly elected), National Director of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches and member of the Executive Council of the Asia Evangelical Alliance; Caribbean: Rev. John O. Smith (re-elected), President of the Guyana Evangelical Fellowship and Chairman of the Evangelical Association of the Caribbean; Europe: Dr. Frank Hinkelmann (re-elected), Chairman of the Austrian Evangelical Alliance and President of the European Evangelical Alliance; Latin America: Rev. Dr. David Ramirez (newly elected), Member of the Executive Committee of the Church of God and member of the Steering Committee of the 4/14 Movement; born in Argentina, now living in the US.; North America: Rev. Bruce Clemenger (re-elected), President of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and founding director of the EFC’s Centre for Faith and Public Life; South Pacific: Rev. Brian Winslade (newly elected), Senior Pastor of Hamilton Central Baptist Church in New Zealand and former Chair of the Church Leadership Commission for the Baptist World Alliance.

Members-at-Large include Kenneth Artz (re-elected), based in the US and with a background in accounting and active in a range of Christian business and philanthropic organizations; Dr. Mario Li-Hing (newly elected), President of the Fellowship of Christian Churches in Mauritius and Chairman of the Board of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa; Rev. Paul Ueki (newly elected), Director of International Relations of the Japan Evangelical Association and Chairman of the Asia Evangelical Alliance; Member Emeritus is John E. Langlois, who has served the WEA in a number of roles over many years, including as Chair of its Religious Liberty Commission and as a lifelong member of the International Council. Ex Officio Member is Bishop Efraim Tendero, Secretary General / CEO of the WEA.
