Church of God World Missions Offers Update on Ukraine

Cleveland, TN–Church of God World Missions ’Director David Griffis and Assistant Director M. Thomas Propes have offered the following statement regarding the current situation in Ukraine:

The heart of World Missions goes out to the country of Ukraine at this devastating time of oppression and war. Ukraine has gripped the attention of the entire world.

The Church of God is strong in Ukraine and growing. We have 100 congregations and over 4,500 members, with 79 churches and 4,000 wonderful people in Russia as well. The Church of God operates three orphanages in Ukraine where there are homeless children without parents. The orphanages are located within 25 miles of the line of fire and have suffered extensive shelling and damage. Some have evacuated while others struggle with keeping enough food. Along with the orphanages, pastoral families near the frontlines also have been hurriedly evacuated often with husbands and pastors returning to serve those who are left. In Poland, the Church of God has created a refugee center to assist the many people fleeing from East Ukraine into West Ukraine.

Jesus told us there would be distress of nations in the last days. World Missions wants to do two things: prayer is a priority to sincerely uphold our brothers and sisters, as well as for those in Russia. We are ALL in the family of God. Then, please consider donating to the World Missions Emergency Disaster Relief fund. Whatever you give, 100% will go to assist in providing food, clothing, and any other assistance where it’s needed most.

Thank you, family, around the world for your care, compassion, and love of God. Please remember to pray for them every time you pray. Knowing we are there for them comforts and inspires hope during this time of war.
